I saw an absolutely fantastic movie this weekend. It is titled, "The Other Side of Heaven," and is based on the book, "In the Eye of the Storm." by John H. Groberg.
It is the true story of Groberg's experience in the Tongan Islands as a missionary. In 1953, a palangi (or white man) was a rare occurance in the isolated isles of the sea. However, Groberg, known as Kolipoki because the Tongans couldn't say Groberg, learns the language and builds the kingdom. I love the Tongan people and have had many great experiences with them. One of my best friends on MY mission was Elder Emil Wolfgramm, who taught me his culture and some of the language. One of my greatest experiecnes on my mission was teaching and baptizing a man from a Tongan family. I recommend this movie to EVERYONE whatever their religous affiliation (or even if they are unaffiliated). I saw the depiction of something Elder Wolfgramm taught me, Ofa Taengata which is endless love. The people of the Island learn to love Kolipoki and he learns to love them. I laughed, I cried, and I loved the movie.
